Research
The research carried out at the Institute of Clinical Medicine produces new information on disease mechanisms and helps develop the prevention, treatment and diagnostics of diseases. The clinical examinations conducted at the Kuopio University Hospital and the Clinical Research Centre of the University of Eastern Finland are a key part of our research activities. The institute’s researchers are also engaged in transnational research.
‘Ageing, Lifestyles and Health’ is one of the university’s strategic profile areas in research. The cutting-edge research carried out at the institute addresses this profile area in several medical specialties, such as neurosciences, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders and musculoskeletal disorders, as well as oncology and ophthalmology.
