Admissions to nearly 30 international Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes at the University of Eastern Finland are now open

Studies in the international Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes will begin in the autumn of 2026, and there are approximately 700 student places available at the University of Eastern Finland.

The application period to the international Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes available at the University of Eastern Finland begins on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, at 8:00 and ends on 21 January 2026 at 15:00 (GMT+2). Studies in the programmes will begin in the autumn of 2026, and there are approximately 700 student places available. 

Six international Bachelor’s degree programmes and more than 20 Master’s degree programmes are inviting applications in this year’s first joint application procedure. New programmes launched at the University of Eastern Finland include the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Human and Planetary Health, the Master’s Degree Programme in Faith, Crises and Existential Wellbeing, and the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programme in Data Engineering.  

Both Finnish and international applicants with a secondary education qualification can apply for admission to the international Bachelor’s degree programmes. Both Finnish and international applicants with a relevant Bachelor’s degree can apply for admission to the Master’s degree programmes.  

The following Bachelor’s degree programmes are available for application via the first joint application procedure of the year:

  • Human and Planetary Health (new)
  • Information Technology
  • Lifelong Learning and Sustainable Development
  • Social Sciences
  • Sustainable Forest Bioeconomy

Students from outside the EU/EEA are required to pay tuition fees

Studying in the international degree programmes is free of charge for Finnish citizens and all EU/EEA and Swiss citizens. Citizens of other countries are required to pay a tuition fee of 10,000 euros per academic year as well as an application fee of 100 euros. 

Applicants who are required to pay tuition fees can apply for scholarships, which are awarded in limited numbers. Moreover, the University of Eastern Finland is the first Finnish university to offer a Finnish Proficiency Tuition Waiver, which has been available to students in the international Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes since 2024. The purpose of the Finnish Proficiency Tuition Waiver is to encourage international students to learn Finnish, improve their employment opportunities, and facilitate their integration into Finnish society.
