MEng Janvit Tippinit focused on the development of highly integrated arrayed waveguide gratings (AWGs) for optical spectrometry applications.

Photonics students at the University of Eastern Finland are collaborating with Porokylä Bakery to investigate how, for example, the amount of flour dust in the air can be measured in the bakery environment.

UEF will also significantly develop the support services available to leaders to enable professional management of leadership duties.

UEF set an ambitious objective to become carbon neutral by the end of 2025. Despite emissions decreasing, this objective will not be achieved.

The Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion has awarded this year’s Good Teacher award to Professor Antti Haapala, who works at the University of Eastern Finland.

Professor Kirsi Helkala, Director Marko Korhonen, Managing Director Siamäk Naghian and Senior Editor-in-Chief Erja Yläjärvi were elected to the UEF Board that will start its term of office at the beginning of 2026.
