The annual KäTu symposia offer researchers, teachers and practitioners of translation and interpreting a forum where they can discuss the diverse phenomena of the field, their ongoing research projects, and the state and development of Translation Studies in general. The KäTu symposia are organised as a collaborative effort between the Teachers' and Researchers' Section of the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (SKTL), and the different Finnish universities which train future translators and interpreters. Hosting the symposium is rotated between these Finnish universities.

The theme of the KäTu2022 Symposium is Translator's Image. The plenary presentations are given by Professor Haidee Kotze (Utrecht University) and Professor Helka Riionheimo (University of Eastern Finland). Professor Kotze's plenary addresses Translators and translation in online social media, while Professor Riionheimo examines the translation of Yle News into Karelian. The Symposium programme also includes 46 session/poster presentations and four workshops on current topics in translation and interpreting training and research.
