Photonics Finland is proud to announce the appointment of seven new Honorary Members. This recognition is reserved for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the development of photonics in Finland and to the activities and growth of Photonics Finland as a national organization.
The honorary members were officially appointed at the Photonics Finland Spring Meeting held on June 4, 2025, in Oulu.
The newly appointed Honorary Members are:

- Risto Myllylä
- Kim Grundström
- Jyrki Saarinen
- Veli-Pekka Leppänen
- Timo Vuorenpää
These distinguished individuals represent both academic excellence and industrial leadership, and all have roots in the Finnish Optical Society, the predecessor of Photonics Finland. Their dedication, expertise, and long-term impact have been instrumental in shaping the Finnish photonics community.
