We are delighted to invite you to join our upcoming Musculoskeletal Diseases Research Community Seminar Series.
We have a special guest speaker, Professor Philippe Zysset, PhD from the University of Bern, Switzerland, who will share some valuable insights into bone translational research.
Title: HR-pQCT-based Diagnosis and Follow-Up of Bone Health
Born in Geneva in 1963, Philippe Zysset obtained a diploma (MSc) in engineering physics and a PhD in biomechanics at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland in 1987 and 1994 respectively.
After a postdoc in orthopedic research at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, he became an assistant professor in solid biomechanics at EPFL. In 2003, he was appointed professor of biomechanics at the Vienna University of Technology, Austria, where he founded a laboratory for nano- and micromechanics of biological and bio-mimetic tissues, promoted novel research activities in computational biomechanics and initiated a master program in biomedical engineering.
Since 2011, he is a professor of biomechanics at the University of Bern, Switzerland, and heads the master program of biomedical engineering. His current research focuses on multiscale experimental, theoretical, and computational bone mechanics with a growing interest in bone-implant systems and clinical translation. Prof. Philippe Zysset is the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, trained some 20 PhD students, and acts as a reviewer for numerous international journals in bone and mineral, biomechanics and biomedical engineering.
We hope you will join us for an engaging seminar!
