Special education is a field of study focused on high-quality international research and education related to the upbringing and education of children, young people, and adults who require support. Key topics include learning difficulties and their underlying factors, as well as the significance of the functional and learning environment for individual learning, growth, and development. The studies delve into the special educational foundation of upbringing and teaching, its societal role, and the importance of special education at different stages of life.
The studies are open to anyone interested in these themes, including teachers, counselors, coaches, social workers, or people aspiring for a career in these roles.
Please note that the basic studies in special education do not give official qualification to work as a special education teacher in Finland.
