You can complete the online course independently in the DigiCampus learning environment. The online course will be available in the piloting phase until 28.2.2025.
The training is part of the free training offered by the ESF project Boosting Regulation and Sustainability Competence for Health and Wellness Sector (ReguVa).
First, we will explore the history, goals, definitions and terms of sustainable development. We examine actors promoting sustainable development at the global, national, local, corporate and civil society levels. We will provide an overview of sustainability communication and sustainable development at the University of Eastern Finland.
Then we dive into the different dimensions of sustainability. In terms of ecological sustainability, we look at climate change and biodiversity loss. In the section on social sustainability, we explore, among other things, planetary health and sustainability in work communities. In terms of economic sustainability, we review the circular economy, degrowth thinking and Dasgupta's report, among others. Regarding cultural sustainability, we consider, among other things, the significance of art as a mediator of sustainability themes. Finally, we examine systemic change, tipping points and people's own role in the sustainability transition.
