A new reading application, Ebook Central Reader App, will be introduced in the Ebook Central platform on 22 October 2025. At the same time, Adobe Digital Editions will no longer be used for downloading books from Ebook Central. If you have recently downloaded books from the platform to Adobe Digital Editions, they will remain available there until the end of the loan period.
You can still read Ebook Central books in a web browser. However, you will need the Reader App if, for example, you want to read books from the platform offline.
The Ebook Central Reader App is available for download for mobile devices and computers (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android) from app stores and directly from Ebook Central. On University of Eastern Finland computers, the Ebook Central Reader App is pre-installed.
To register the Ebook Central Reader App on your device and download books into the app, you need to sign in to your Ebook Central account (click Sign-in in the top right corner). Registration requires a seven-digit code, which you will receive when downloading the app or by navigating to Profile – EBS app devices.
