Lea Ryynänen-Karjalainen continues as Chair of UEF Board

The Board of the University of Eastern Finland has selected Lea Ryynänen-Karjalainen, DMus, Executive Director of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies, as its Chair.

Jaakko Kiander, DSocSc, CEO of the Public Sector Pension provider Keva, was selected as Vice Chair. Ryynänen-Karjalainen and Kiander have served as the Board’s Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, also during the previous term of office. The university’s Board decided on the selections in an organising meeting held on 13 January.

According to Ryynänen-Karjalainen, the University of Eastern Finland is a well-respected and strong regional, national and international actor, and its financial standing is good.

“The activities of the Board emphasise an open and collaborative operating culture. The university’s ability to implement its strategy and to identify changes in the operating environment must also be boldly strengthened and led.”

The term of office of the Board is four years, from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2025.
