Filipp Temerov received grant for research abroad from Säätiöiden post doc -pooli

Visiting researcher Filipp Temerov from the Department of Chemistry has received a grant of 45,000 euros in the Säätiöiden post doc -pooli’s spring application round.

The grant awarded to Temerov by the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation is intended for research abroad in the field of nanoscience. Temerov’s doctoral dissertation in chemistry, entitled Improved photocatalytic activity of TiO2 inverse opal nanostructures, was be examined at the Faculty of Science and Forestry on February 2021.

The Säätiöiden post doc -pooli foundations awarded some 1.38 million euro to 29 post-doctoral scholars on 23 April 2021. Altogether 133 post-doctoral scholars from around Finland took part in the spring application round. The number of applications increased by 13 percent from the previous year.

The Säätiöiden post doc -pooli has proven to be an important instrument of research funding which has enabled young scholars with families to finance research periods at top universities abroad. The grants awarded by the Pool are determined flexibly in accordance with the applicant’s needs and they often include their family’s moving expenses and children’s day care or school fees.

The Pool’s next application round will take place from 15 August until 15 September 2021, when some 1.7 million euro will be given in grants. The results of this round will be published by December 2021.
