In 2020, the university achieved a good operational and financial result. The coronavirus pandemic and the emergency conditions had an impact on the university’s activities, but the key operational objectives were achieved well. 

Coordinated by the University of Eastern Finland, the interdisciplinary and international PEICAS project is currently examining how children with autism spectrum disorder interact with others in inclusive classrooms.

There has been a coronavirus exposure at Tulliportti Teacher Training School, more specifically at Länsikatu school. The low-risk exposure took place during class time on Tuesday, 16 March.

The University of Eastern Finland presented Eveliina Ojala, Doctor of Theology, Maryam Samavaki, PhD, Timo Pekkala, MD, and Pasi Hirvonen, Doctor of Social Sciences, with the Young Researcher Award 2020.

The University of Eastern Finland is prepared to organise the entrance examinations in a safe manner.

Researcher Kari Korolainen’s work made it to the top ten graphic novels nominated for the Finlandia Graphic Novel Award 2021.

UEF has received a significant bequest from the United States. Amounting to roughly one million US dollars, the donation constitutes the principal capital of The Ida Kokkonen and Walter William Hill Memorial Student Fund.

Finnish universities should develop their assessment culture in a direction that supports all students’ learning.
