Karelia Symposium: Chemicals from Wood

This year’s theme is “Chemicals from wood”. The topic will be discussed by top experts of the field. The symposium will take place this year as a hybrid event. If the prevailing pandemic situation allows, you can participate either on-site in Kuopio Campus or remotely via Teams.

Karelia Symposium theme this year is Health from wood. The topic will be discussed by top experts of the field:

  • Janne Jänis (University of Eastern Finland) Industrial potential of wood extractives

  • Tom Granström (ST1) Perspectives in conversion of wood into useful chemicals and materials

We will also hear about topical PhD and MSc projects, and 1-minute pitches from poster presenters. Grant decisions for wood science research at UEF, provided by Teollisuusneuvos Heikki Väänänen’s Fund, will be published in Karelia Symposium.
