Course content: The utilization of the digital technologies in interaction, collaboration and professional development, Producing and modifying content in a digital learning environment, Content sharing and managing, the challenges and benefits of a digital environment to learning, teaching and assessment, The digital approaches of the educators for supporting students’ inclusion, Information and media literacy.

Learning outcomes: After completing the course, the student will be able to

  • describe the key terminology for digital competence
  • explain the significance of digital competence in professional activities
  • structure research knowledge to analyze digital competence and apply this knowledge in professional activities
  • evaluate and plan the use of digital technology in professional activities

The course includes the next generic skills: digitalization, ethics, leadership and development, internationality, sustainability and responsibility, critical thinking, identification and development of expertise and interaction and communication.


Modes of study: MOOC, Massive Open Online Course, learning assignments ja independent study.

This study unit is especially suitable for those working in the field of education, but also for those interested in teaching and digital pedagogy.

Please note that there will be a short break in registration due to a system change. Registration closes on Friday, 17.11.2023 at 15:00 and opens again on Friday, 8.12.2023 at 9:00.

Study materials: Study material in MOOC environment

Evaluation criteria: Pass/more work required (A passed grade is equivalent to stands for at least 70 % of the set objectives). To pass the study unit, you must have passed each assignment included in the modules.

This MOOC study unit is available for all at DigiCampus environment. Participation in the course requires registration on the DigiCampus platform. You can start studying by logging in with HAKA account or Google: https://digicampus.fi/ (no self enrolment key needed). After completing whole study unit you can download an unofficial certificate of completion that indicates that you have taken the study unit.

If you would like to receive a formal grade and study credits: register as an Open University student at Opintopolku (please see more information from application process -tab). Register in DigiCampus with self enrolment key given from Open University. Open University registration is open 10.8.2023-15.6.2024 at Opintopolku and UEF website.

II Proceed to identify yourself using the Suomi.fi service, fill in your personal information to the registration form, confirm your registration and pay the study fees. If you cannot use the Suomi.fi service, please contact our training secretary, their information can be found below.

III Your registration will typically be processed in 2-5 working days. During peak registration periods, this may take up to 10 days. After this period, you will get an automatic message which includes a link to the starting instructions. Please read and follow the instructions carefully.

 

If you do not have a UEF username, you will also get instructions for activating one. Access rights will be added to your username when your study right begins.
