Learning outcomes  

After completing the course, the student will:

  • identify phenomena related to environmental social psychology
  • understand how group processes and material environment interact with each other and how they interact with individual well being
  • understand how the material environment shapes the group processes
  • know how to apply social psychological knowledge to achieve sustainable development goals

Course develops the following generic skills: Digitalization, Internationality, Sustainability and responsibility, Critical thinking.

Course content 

Introduction to environmental social psychology. Natural and built environment and group processes. Psychosocial well-being and material environment. Environmental disasters, identities and social support. Global environmental threats and pro environmentalism.

Ways of completing the course:

The course is conducted online in eLearn Moodle 28.10.-13.12.2024. All student groups participate in the same online course.

The course is built on the basis of weekly changing thematic sections, which include online lectures ( 54 h), study of literature, learning tasks and group discussions.

Evaluation criteria

On scale 0 (fail) 5 (excellent).

To pass the course (grade 1) the student must complete the compulsory learning tasks based on lectures and literature in each course section; grades 2 to 5 additionally require completion of voluntary learning tasks and active participation in group discussions.

Register for individual study units. Study units cost 20 e / credit. This price holds for the academic year 2024–2025.

The length of a study right is determined by the length of the study unit so that it covers all teaching and exams. If the study unit has continuous registration, the study right is from 1.8.2024 to 30.7.2025.

II. Proceed in the registration service. You will receive a payment link. After paying, you will receive a confirmation email from Paytrail (payment processor) and a confirmation of your registration from the university. 

III. You will receive your starting instructions within seven days of your registration. Please read them carefully. If you do not have a UEF account, you will also get instructions for activating one.
