Work continues remotely and on campus also in the spring semester, new work-related good practices will remain in use

Work at the University of Eastern Finland continues according to the current system, i.e. both remotely and on campus, also in the spring semester. This means that employees agree with their supervisors on when they will be working remotely or on campus, and the number of employees working in the university’s facilities may still not exceed half of the normal. Online meetings should continue to be preferred, and people are encouraged to turn on their camera when speaking in an online meeting.

Protecting those who belong to a medical risk group continues to play an important role, which is why employees belonging to a medical risk group will remain working remotely. Their return to the campus will be decided later, when the coronavirus situation so allows.

To maintain community spirit and a sense of well-being at work, it is important to stay in touch with colleagues either on campus while observing the hygiene and safety guidelines, or online.

In the spring semester, in-person teaching at the University of Eastern Finland will be offered as possible, and primarily to students who started their studies in autumn 2020.

The measures taken by the University of Eastern Finland in response to the coronavirus situation follow national guidelines and recommendations.

Location independent work will become a permanent practice

Good work-related practices adopted as a result of the coronavirus situation will remain in use also after the pandemic. One such practice is location independent work, for which guidelines are being prepared mainly for the administrative and auxiliary staff. Guidelines on location independent work will be published in Heimo later.

It is important to keep following the guidelines
The coronavirus situation is like a marathon: it takes perseverance and stamina to reach the finish line. It is important that everyone keeps following the university’s hygiene and safety guidelines, and it is good to bear in mind that staff members can also set an example for students.
