University of Eastern Finland recommends the use of the Koronavilkku app

The University of Eastern Finland recommends the use of the Koronavilkku app to its students and staff. Released by the National Institute for Health and Welfare today, the app can be downloaded free of charge from App Store and Google Play.

The app will allow people to participate in preventing the spread of the virus and to protect their own and their loved ones' health. Through the app, people exposed to the virus can be reached and infection chains can be stopped faster. The use of the app is voluntary, but the more people download it, the more helpful it will be.

At this point, the app is available in Finnish and Swedish. An English version will be released later in the autumn.

The national-level development of the Koronavilkku app is the responsibility of the National Institute for Health and Welfare. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Kela, SoteDigi and the National Cyber Security Centre, among others, have also participated in its development.
