The University of Eastern Finland develops its support services – change negotiations completed

The University of Eastern Finland has concluded the change negotiations launched in October relating to the development of the university’s internal services.

The goal is to enhance the day-to-day support services offered to the heads of schools and departments of the faculties. The aim was not to cut costs, and the negotiations did not result in any redundancies, layoffs, or changes from full-time to part-time employment.

As a result of the negotiations, a new unit will be established within University Services, which will focus on supporting research and innovation activities.

The university will centralise assistant services that support the day-to-day management of heads of schools and departments to the Executive Services team of the General Administration and Legal Affairs unit. The team will be strengthened with two new persons, and the resourcing will be enabled through pension arrangements.

The development of the services will continue in cooperation with the university’s faculties and units. The aim is to streamline day-to-day activities and to ensure that support services correspond to user needs.
