The Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Natural Sciences and Engineering has granted 3.5 million euros of funding to new Academy Projects at the University of Eastern Finland.

Two research trails utilizing location-based game have been opened up in Pirkanmaa forests. The UNITE Geotrail research project of the University of Eastern Finland collects information on people's forest experiences and preferences and tests a method for collecting research data based on mobile technology and gameplay using geocaches.

Grants were awarded for PhD researchers and postdoctoral researchers for a research period abroad.

The Academy of Finland’s Research Council for Biosciences, Health and the Environment granted more than 5.2 million euros of funding to Academy Projects at the University of Eastern Finland.

Jimmiel J. Mandima studied Applied Zoology, Environmental and Biological Sciences at UEF.

The lecture topics range from radiation biology to forest planning, and from pharmaceutical policy and brain health to literature and education.

The research infrastructures of the University of Eastern Finland have been added to the national Research.fi portal, and they are also increasingly visible on the university’s own website.

The Universities of Helsinki, Lapland, Oulu and Vaasa, and LAB University of Applied Sciences, join the Sustainability Studies Network.

The University of Eastern Finland's nationwide survey investigates the link between forests and happiness.

UEF, together with Teollisuusneuvos Heikki Väänänen Fund, will organise the 8th Karelia Symposium under the theme “Food from Wood” in Joensuu on 25 April 2023.
