If you need a visa to enter Finland, you should apply for it at your home country before leaving for Finland. You can check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland website to find out what travel documents you need to enter Finland. Please follow the instructions of the embassy when applying for a visa.
You will receive your official acceptance letter via the application portal after you have paid the course fee. Please indicate on the application form or by email (summer.school@uef.fi) if you need an original acceptance letter for visa purposes.
More information:
We advise you to arrive to Joensuu Campus during the weekend before your course starts. Please note that due to the Finnish Athletics Championships organized in Joensuu from 4th August to 7th August, hotels in the area are most likely fully booked.
Therefore, we advise that you arrive in Joensuu on Sunday evening after the championships. If you plan to arrive on Saturday before the beginning of Summer School, you should book your hotel accommodation on time.
During the weekend (Saturday-Sunday) we are organising a pick-up service in Joensuu for free. This does not apply to those who already live in Joensuu. This service is meant for those who pay the participation fee and/or will travel from abroad or from other Finnish cities.
More information on arriving to Joensuu will be sent to you by email after you have been accepted to the Summer School. We will also ask you to fill in the Arrival Form (to organise the pick-up service) closer to the start of Summer School.
The Summer School participation fees do not cover accommodation, so you will need to make the arrangements for your stay yourself. Be sure to contact accommodation providers directly to make the necessary arrangements.
