Doctoral researcher in the field of law? Methods nerd or sick of methodology? Up for discussing the methodological approach of your own research with fellow doctoral researchers? Join us for a methodology retreat in Joensuu!

From 23-24 May 2023, the UEF Law School is hosting a Doctoral Methods Clinic common to all the Finnish Doctoral Programmes in Law in Joensuu.

The preliminary programme of the seminar includes:

on Tuesday, 23 May:

  • A keynote by Niko Soininen
  • Parallel pitching sessions, where participants present a method or methodological approach from their own research
  • Dinner and sauna at Vainoniemen huvila in the evening (free of charge).

on Wednesday, 24 May:

  • A panel discussion on the role of doctrinal legal research
  • Parallel workshops before lunch

The seminar is free of charge and open to all doctoral researchers working on a dissertation on a law-related theme at a Finnish university. Please note that only a limited number of persons will be accepted for participation. Registration is open until Monday 24.4. First come, first serve!

Successfully registered participants are encouraged to confirm the possibility of receiving credit points for the seminar with their doctoral programme coordinators (UEF doctoral researchers will receive 4 ECTS for the course 5312108 Conferences). Participant’s accomodation, transport and meals are at own cost unless otherwise specified.
