The Joensuu Entrepreneurship Society is organizing a two-day student hackathon on 24–25 November at UEF Joensuu campus. All students are invited to take part! Students can freely build teams of 2–5 people and get ECTS points by participating. There is also an over €1000 prize for each challenge!
The hackathon has three (3) challenges according to the faculties of Joensuu campus:
Beyond wood - unleash the full power of forests!
The forests in Finland are rich with a wide range of natural products – not just wood. Innovate ways to harness the full potential of forests and grow the forest-based economy!
Mehtimäki – Where Light and Forest Create the Future of Tourism!
Joensuu’s Mehtimäki needs a transformation – to become the heart of light and nature. Turn Mehtimäki into Eastern Finland’s leading tourist attraction where photonics innovation meets the beauty of the forest.
Resilient Youth – Stronger City, Brighter Future!
In a changing world, we need exceptional adaptability to face new challenges.
Develop solutions to strengthen young people’s (until 29 years) resilience and preparedness through the city and educational institutions.
The hackathon starts on 24 November at 15:00 with registration. The Opening ceremony will start at 16:00.
At 16:00 a Keynote Speech by Peter Vesterbacka is open to all interested!
After the keynote the teams will be given the actual challenges and all material needed for them. Teams have around 24h to solve the challenge and then pitch it on Tuesday 25 November at 17:00. All the foods, mentoring, co-working spaces and sauna are free for the participants of the hackathon!
Registration:
Registration is open until 20 November.
