Online studies
Content
Strategy and strategic position. Competitive advantage. Analytical concepts and and tools to evaluate the strategic options. Development of strategies in organizations. Organizational structures, organizational processes and relationship management. Organization's position in the external environment, the determinants of strategic capability, the influence of, history and culture on strategy, sustainable business.
Study methods
This course is an online course and, thus, you are expected to carry it out as an independent study. Academic studies require self-direction, good study skills, and planning. It takes about 162 hours of work to complete the course. Note! Exam room examinations.
University of Eastern Finland uses EXAM for electronic exams. You can take an exam during the examination period (defined by the lecturer) when it suits you the best. You can take exams in Kuopio and Joensuu campuses.
You can also take your examination in another university’s EXAM room as an exam visit. Read the instructions carefully https://kamu.uef.fi/en/tools/electronic-exam-facilities/. Make sure to book your exam time and exam room well in advance. There is a limited number of available slots.

You will receive the right of study from the date of registration until the end of the academic year (July 2026). In practice, the completion takes place within the stated due dates of the course.

Individual study units cost 20 e / credit and the study module costs 15 e / credit. These prices hold for the academic year 2025–2026. The study fee is paid at registration.
By paying the study fee, the student receives a temporary right to study that entitles them to attend a particular course. The right to study is course-specific, and is required to complete the course as specified in the syllabus for the term, covering both teaching and course exams. If the course is continuously open for registration, the maximum time to complete the course is from 1 August to 31 July for that academic year.
