Course content: Basic principles of the health and social services system in Finland; steering of the system.
Objectives: After completing this course, student:
• is able to define the main characteristics of the social and health services system as a whole at local, regional and national levels as part of the polical-administrative system and decision-making in Finland
• recognizes the role and significance of policy instruments: economic means, information, and regulation in steering the social and health care service system
• understands the importance of multidisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration in social and health services
The course develops the following generic skills: Internationality; identifying and developing own expertise
The course is available online and can be studied between 7.9.2026-30.6.2027.

Modes of study: Online course (online learning environment)
Evaluation: The course is evaluated on a scale of 0-5. Note: Assessments and the recording of study credits take place approximately once a month. During holiday periods or non-teaching times, the assessment schedule may be longer.
Study methods: Individual assignment in Moodle (online learning environment).
Study materials: Relevant online materials and readings, will be specified later in Moodle (online learning environment).
Literature acquisition costs and borrowing fees are not included in the tuition fee.
