Kai Kaarniranta is Acta Ophthalmologica’s first Finnish Chief Editor

Kai Kaarniranta, Chief Physician and Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Eastern Finland and Kuopio University Hospital has been appointed as the new Chief Editor of Acta Ophthalmologica. Founded in 1923, Acta Ophthalmologica is one of the most prominent journals in the field of ophthalmology. Acta Ophthalmologica is the official scientific publication of the ophthalmological societies of Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark and the Netherlands. The journal also represents the European Association for Vision and Eye Research, EVER, whose President Kai Kaarniranta is. 

Acta Ophthalmologica receives almost 3,000 manuscript submissions every year, and this number has nearly tripled over the past ten years. This is the first time Acta Ophthalmologica, which has been in existence for some 100 years, has a Finnish Chief Editor.
