The financial statement for 2023 was discussed by the UEF Board on 22 March. The financial statement will be discussed by the University Collegiate Body on 7 May.

The Board of the University of Eastern Finland elected Academic Rector, Professor, LLD Tapio Määttä as the new Rector of the university for the five-year term beginning on 1 January 2025.

The university plans to admit 120 students to the data engineering education expected to be launched on the Joensuu and Kuopio campuses in autumn 2026.

The Hare Research Group at the Department of Environmental and Biological Sciences, University of Eastern Finland, has published a chromosomally assembled reference genome for the European brown hare.

This thesis work leveraged transcriptomic and lipidomic approaches to unravel cellular and molecular mechanisms underpinning an impaired post-ischemic tissue revascularization and evaluated novel immunomodulatory nanotherapies to rescue this impairment in clinically relevant mouse models.
