The policy and legal framework on customs union, free movement, competition and state aid.
Students are able to structure and identify the main provisions and legislative frameworks that govern free movement law (including customs union), competition law and state aid law in the EU. By the end of the course, students are expected to understand the organizational and policy framework of the EU within which EU business law operates. They are familiar with the main Treaty rules that deal with the EU internal market area, and how these are being interpreted and applied. Students understand the dis-tribution of competence between the EU and its Member States, and the different roles, responsibilities and competencies of EU institutions that relate to EU business law.
The course has two alternative modes of study:
Mode of study 1: Lectures (compulsory, 15-20 hours (depending on the number of enrolled students) ), take-home exam in Moodle. If students wish to opt for the take-home exam, the lectures are compul-sory. The participation of the students is monitored throughout the lectures. Students are expected to participate actively in the lectures, and they will be assigned with various assignments and (group) exercises during the lectures. Students are also expected to reserve time for home-work during the lecture period. OR
Mode of study 2: Electronic exam (EXAM) based on the study materials (3h). Students may also participate in the lectures (voluntary). Independent work 132 h.
Teaching will be provided in spring semester (mode of study 1). The electronic exam (mode of study 2) may be taken at any time during the academic year.
