The course explores the EU policy and legal framework governing the customs union, free movement, competition and state aid. You will gain an overview of the internal market rules, institutional competences and key Treaty provisions shaping EU business law and their application.

The course has two methods of study:
Mode of study 1: Lectures (15-20 hours) covering main issues of course literature with insights
from recent practice (eg guest lecture with lawyer from European Commission), voluntary written assignments (2) during the course which can contribute max. 2 points towards the score of the final exam, Electronic exam (EXAM) based on the course literature (3h). If students wish to complete the voluntary written assignments, the lectures are compulsory.
OR
Mode of study 2: Electronic exam (EXAM) based on the course literature (3h). Students may also participate in the lectures (voluntary). Independent work c. 132 h.

- Note that the right to study is granted within 2–5 business days, so you will not be able to activate your user accounts immediately.
- Once the Open University right to study has been granted, you will receive an email with a link to the new student website (instructions for activating university user accounts, etc.).
- Log in according to the instructions to the Open University law studies learning environment (UEF Moodle).
- After registration, you will automatically be included in the implementation/teaching organized by the Department of Law.
- The right to study always ends no later than 30 July 2027, regardless of whether registration is completed in the autumn or spring semester.

You can register for individual course units at a fee of EUR 20 per ECTS credit. The prices are valid for the academic year 2026–2027. Please familiarize yourself with the Open University study fees as well as the payment and cancellation terms: Right to Study and Payment Terms. The right to study is granted on a course-by-course basis and always ends no later than 30 July 2027. The costs of acquiring or borrowing course literature are not included in the study fee.
