Spatia – Centre for Regional Research
Spatia – Centre for Regional Research, is an applied social science research unit of the University of Eastern Finland producing research for and about regional development, planning and politics. Spatia's main customer organizations are the ministries, municipalities, federation of municipalities, regional administrative units, and enterprises. We also take part in international research projects. Spatia offers research and expertise services, for example, on regional economics, local government and administrative law, town and environmental planning and cross-border co-operation.
In our research services we focus on flexibility and multidisciplinary research. Spatia works as a network organization with the Karelian Institute and the departments of economics, geography, law and social policy. Our aim is to provide our customers with the best expertise available for their research programmes.
In research our strengths are related to:
