Aging and other demographic changes, multiple life situations increasing the needs for health and social services as well as changes in service delivery and digitalization emphasize the need for interdisciplinary research on effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of health and social services. To minimize the costs and to increase health as well as wellbeing benefits of the health and social services, we need innovative solutions for care, inclusive and effective working methods, programs and policies. EFFECTIVENESS research community conducts interdisciplinary research on the effectiveness, quality and safety of the health and social services, as well as the effectiveness of health and wellbeing promotion. We develops methods for effectiveness and cost-effectiveness evaluation as well as geo-spatial methods. We also promote improved utilization of effectiveness research information in knowledge-based decision making in social and health care as well as related evaluation of legislation. Our research community utilizes and combines several data sources and mixed methods for research purposes such as experimental-, survey-, interview-, and register data, such as data pools and real world data, as well as geo-spatial data.
