Unpacking Ideologies, Challenging Divisions

Welcome to the 2026 BOMOCULT Conference on borders, mobilities and cultural encounters!

This year’s Borders, Mobilities and Cultural Encounters, BOMOCULT, conference takes place under increasingly uncertain (geo)political conditions and mounting existential threats against democratic societies. Given this sense of urgency, “Unpacking Ideologies, Challenging Divisions” provides a forum for addressing questions that are relevant to the ongoing struggle over truth, meaning and competing narratives of identity and national belonging. The conference programme offers perspectives on questions regarding the interpretation and countering of divisive ideologies and contributions that broadly address borders, mobilities and cultural encounters.

Registration and further information

There is no conference fee. However, we ask the participants to register by 22 September 2026 at the registration site.
