Faculty of Health SciencesThe Faculty of Health Sciences is a unique entity in Finland. The faculty houses the School of Medicine, the School of Pharmacy, the Department of Nursing Science, the A.I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences and the Lab Animal Centre. Furthermore, the faculty coordinates the Biocentre Kuopio (BCK), which is an umbrella organization for research in molecular medicine, drug research and biotechnology. The Faculty educates and trains experts and professionals for several central fields of health care and well-being. Education is offered in programmes of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and health sciences. The faculty’s research activities in the above fields are of top international quality. Furthermore, the unique structure of the faculty provides excellent opportunities for creating new research activities at the interfaces of clinical medicine, biomedicine, pharmacy and nursing science.
