School of Computing is situated on both Joensuu and Kuopio campuses and it employs five professors working in the area of computer science and one professor in statistics. The research of the School focuses on intelligent media computing, technologies for education, and development, and statistics applications in demography, economy and forest sciences.
The Head of the School is Professor Markku Hauta-Kasari and the Vice Heads are Professor Markku Tukiainen (Joensuu) and University lecturer Erkki Pesonen (Kuopio).
The School belongs to the Doctoral Programme on Science, Technology and Computing (SCITECO).
The annual student intake is 100 students in the normal admission process and 30 foreign students to the International MSc programs.
The average annual goal is 60 MSc degrees, 10 PhD degrees, and 80 scientific reports on the international forums.
