The discovery of a lymphatic system draining the central nervous system (CNS) has opened new perspectives to understand the mechanisms leading to neurodegenerative diseases and brain disorders.
The focus of our research is to understand the role of the meningeal lymphatic vessels and of the glymphatic system in the physiological and pathological processes of the brain. Particularly, we are interested in understanding their involvement and role in the pathophysiological process of traumatic brain injury (TBI). We are also interested in studying how alterations of the CNS lymphatic system affect neuronal functions and the immune-surveillance of the brain.
Ultimately, our goal is to address possible novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of neurological disorders.
