The Doctoral School of the University of Eastern Finland comprises all of the university's doctoral programmes. Our doctoral programmes cover all scientific fields of the university, and all doctoral students complete their studies in the doctoral programmes. As from the beginning of 2013, all doctoral-level education at the University of Eastern Finland has been organised by the doctoral programmes offering doctoral students high level and systematic research training.
The UEF Doctoral School offers transferable skills studies, peer support, guidance and supervision to doctoral students.
The task of the doctoral programmes is to offer systematic teaching and supervision for postgraduate students. The doctoral programmes aim at ensuring the high quality of doctoral education, shortening the time used for completing the doctoral dissertation and thus lowering the age at which the doctoral candidate defends his or her dissertation in a public examination. The ultimate goal is to educate highly skilled researchers and experts.
