Global challenges - local responses työpaja (3 ECTS)

Wednesday 26th October

In connection to the Annual Meeting of Finnish Geographers, a workshop will be organised on 26.10.2016, welcoming early stage researchers (PhD students) from all fields of geography and related disciplines to discuss how to approach the geographies of global and local extremes conceptually and empirically. The workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to present and discuss their present research with the keynote speakers and other participants in small groups. Afterwards, a short walking excursion to one of Joensuu’s most dramatically-changing neighbourhoods will be provided, followed by a workshop dinner (optional, own cost). The workshop language is English and is organised free of charge. Participants must cover their own travel and accommodation costs, as well as their dinner in the evening.
