The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is the most multidisciplinary university in Finland. We respond to global challenges and build a sustainable future through our high standard of education and interdisciplinary research.
Our research is ranked among the best in the world in several fields, including in the top 500 universities in 16 disciplines. We offer education in nearly 100 major subjects and train experts for tomorrow’s changing labour market needs.
Organisation
The University of Eastern Finland is home to approximately 17,000 degree students and 14,500 adult education students, and we have a staff of 3,400 employees. The university comprises four faculties: the Philosophical Faculty, the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies. Our campuses are located in Joensuu and Kuopio.

University campuses
The University of Eastern Finland operates on two campuses, in Joensuu and in Kuopio. In Joensuu, our campus is located right in the vicinity of the city centre, while in Kuopio you can find us by Lake Kallavesi, in Savilahti bay. Our campuses boast a range of facilities that cater to various purposes, and our facilities are also available for rent by external clients.
