Postgraduate studies in sociology

Postgraduate studies in sociology can be taken up at both the Joensuu and the Kuopio campuses.

Joensuu Campus

At the Joensuu campus, it is possible to attain a Licentiate degree in Social Sciences (Lic.Soc.Sc), Licentiate degree in Education (Lic.Ed), Doctoral degree in Social Sciences (D.Soc.Sc) and a Doctoral degree in Education or Philosophy (D.Ed, Ph.D.). The major subject for a postgraduate degree in education is Education Sociology. A postgraduate degree requires a person who has completed a Master's degree or its equivalent.

Postgraduate studies are carried out in accordance with a personal study plan and they begin by contacting the Major Professor, with whom a postgraduate study plan is drawn up. The study plan is drawn up in such a way that it supports licentiate research and doctoral dissertation to the best of its ability.

Kuopio Campus

At the Kuopio campus, it is possible to complete a Licentiate degree in Social Sciences (Lic.Soc.Sc) and / or a Doctoral degree in Social Sciences (D.Soc.Sc) specializing in sociology.
