General information about the AHOT exemption examinations for English courses

Degree students at the University of Eastern Finland who already, through prior learning, master the learning outcomes of the academic and field-specific English courses required for their university degree are given the opportunity to demonstrate that learning.

Students are allowed to attend each examination once. Guidelines regarding the recognition of prior learning (AHOT) regulate the exemption examinations so it is not simply an alternative to attending the course. It is a procedure for demonstrating that through prior learning (e.g. studies abroad, work experience or similar) you have already achieved the learning outcomes of the course. If you believe you already have the skills required, you may apply for exemption by taking the AHOT exemption examination. You can find the code for each exemption examination from the course description in WebOodi.
