Markku Kuittinen, PhD., Professor
Professor Markku Kuittinen received his M.Sc. and Lic. Phil. degrees from the University of Kuopio in 1987 and 1991, respectively. He moved to Joensuu in 1993 receiving Ph.D. degree in 1994 from the University of Joensuu. In 1994-95, he was working as a post-doc in the Institute of Microtechnology, University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Since then he held assistant and senior assistant posts at the Universty of Joensuu before becoming a professor in physics in 2001.
His main research interests include micro-optics, nanophotonics, diffractive optics, polarization, and fabrication issues related on micro-and nanostructures. He is the leader of Micro-and nanophotonics research group and he is also the head of the clean room laboratory of the department. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed articles and more than 60 other publications.
His teaching experience includes courses in photonics, optical communications, signal analysis, basic mathematics, mathematical methods in physics, and numerical methods.
Markku Kuittinen was born in 1962. He has two children.
