Timo joined the nutrition epidemiologists in 2012 as a research assistant in the Finnish Vitamin D Trial (FIND), only after first year studies in nutrition science. In 2016 he graduated as a Master of Health Sciences and is now continuing his studies as a PhD student. In his research Timo investigates how the use of milk products is associated with risk of cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes in the KIHD cohort.
With a wide knowledge in computers, a bit of programming skills, and a creative attitude, he’s been able to help the group in various situations, for example developing electronic FFQ forms and FFQ calculations in the FIND-study. Apart from that, he’s really interested in human physiology and how, and how much, one can sway it with nutrition and exercise.
In his freetime he likes to play sports and do various outdoor activities (hiking etc.). The latest hobby he’s trying to master is disc golf.
