Elisa Aaltola

Elisa Aaltola, PhD, is a philosopher specialised in animal and environmental philosophy, moral psychology, and the philosophy of suffering. In the project, she will explore philosophical narratives on suffering, together with gender philosophy related to bodily difference. Her research will focus on narrativised suffering, and the ways in which thinkers such as Simone Weil, Emmanuel Levinas, Friedrich Nietzsche and Arthur Schopenhauer have made sense of suffering, thereby impacting its cultural narratives.
