Professor Lasse Peltonen has seen the causes and consequences of environmental conflicts both as a researcher and as a mediator. The roles are different, but both are needed to understand conflicts and to find solutions to them.
The main objective of STREAM is to create innovative collaboration with and build capacity of Mongolian research organisations, educational institutions, companies, producers, communities, administrative authorities and decision-makers in the development of climate-sustainable agro-ecological food production chains, as well as in the diverse, sustainable use of forest resources.
Malting, the processing of cereal grains into malt, generates rootlets as a side-stream product, which is currently mostly utilised as animal feed. However, this leftover material has not only a high protein content, but also high amounts of phytochemicals.
The impact of human activity on the Earth’s biosphere requires radical changes in economic, legal, political, and governance systems in order for people to still have a chance at a better, more equitable and sustainable future.
