UEF publishes a commemorative book of the doctoral conferment ceremony held on the Joensuu Campus

The University of Eastern Finland’s second doctoral conferment ceremony was held in Joensuu on 6-8 June 2019. Doctoral degree holders from all three faculties operating on the Joensuu Campus, i.e. the Philosophical Faculty, the Faculty of Science and Forestry, and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies, participated in the ceremony. A commemorative book has now been published, featuring the speeches held at the different ceremonies as well as a broad selection of photos from the different events.

The three-day festivities included, e.g., a ceremony where the Honorary Doctors planted their commemorative trees, a conferment ceremony concert, a hat fitting ceremony, a ceremonial conferment of doctoral degrees, a procession to the church, a conferment ceremony service, a banquet and ball, and a cruise on the River Pielisjoki.

The publication also introduces the university’s 12 Honorary Doctors and their commemorative trees planted in the Conferment Ceremony Garden, as well as all the 85 promovendi upon whom a doctorate was ceremonially conferred.

The commemorative publication of the doctoral conferment ceremony held on the Joensuu Campus in 2019 is available at http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN:978-952-61-3182-5.
