Professor Arto Urtti recognised with Takeru and Aya Higuchi Memorial Lectureship Award

Professor of Biopharmacy Arto Urtti at the University of Eastern Finland has received the highly prestigious Takeru and Aya Higuchi Memorial Lectureship Award from the Academy of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology of Japan. The award is given out every two years in recognition of ground-breaking drug research. Professor Urtti is the first researcher in the Nordic countries to receive the award. The award has been granted to Europe only six times before.

Professor Urtti’s research focuses on the delivery of drugs into cells and tissues, and he also develops novel computational and cell models for drug research. Ocular drug research stands at the core of his research. Professor Urtti’s research group is based in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Eastern Finland, as well as in the University of Helsinki and Saint Petersburg State University.
