Seasoned experts focus on commercialisation in the Health19 seminar in Tahko on 4 April

Taking place in Tahko on 4 April, the Health19 seminar offers a free and diverse programme for those interested in health sector trends, business and industry, and commercialisation. Organised by the University of Eastern Finland, the seminar is a side event of Tahko Ski Lift Pitch.

“This kind of a cross-section ranging from drug development and diagnostics to nutrition and digital applications is rarely available in the Kuopio region. However, tips on how to start a company and how to raise funding will be beneficial to people thinking about going into business in other fields as well,” says Professor of Practice Juha Yrjänheikki, CEO at Aurealis Pharma and the moderator of the Health19 seminar.

Tahko Ski Lift Pitch on 4-5 April provides a platform for start-up and start-again companies to meet investors and seasoned business experts, as they are competing for a prize of 25,000 euros to further promote their business idea. Tahko Ski Lift Pitch is organised by the Kuopio Chamber of Commerce, with the University of Eastern Finland as the main partner. As a side event, the university organises the Health19 seminar in Tahko free of charge, with themes focusing on innovations and business activities in the fields of health and well-being. The line-up of speakers includes top-level experts in commercialisation and the business sector. The language of the seminar is English.

The seminar’s keynote speaker will be Chris Winter, CEO at Intermidi Group, a company that specialises in spinning technologies out of the UK National Health Service, and a Managing Partner at Brightstar Partners, a venture capital firm.  In the seminar, Jussi Paananen from Blueprint Genetics will be telling a success story of a Finnish company. Light into ecosystem thinking and ecosystem projects, on the other hand, will be shed by Jyrki Lehtimäki from Orion, and Anu Kaukovirta-Norja from Valio will be talking about sustainable food business.

“Collaboration between the public and the private sector is showcased in many different ways, and hopefully the audience will also offer perspectives to the discussion.”

“In addition, Pekka Simula from Herantis Pharma and Finnish Bioindustries will give a presentation on the Finnish biosciences industry, and that is something not to miss out on. Janne Mönkkönen from Tieto, on the other hand, will be talking about how digitalisation and data will become part of the more traditional drug development processes,” Yrjänheikki says.

Kuopio Health, Business Center, Kuopio Entrepreneurship Society and projects of the Savilahti area will also be making an appearance in the seminar.

The Health19 seminar constitutes part of the ESF funded feasibility study on the innovation platform for the Savilahti area. The main funder is the South Savo Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.
