Old Email Systems of the University of Kuopio and the University of Joensuu

The old email systems of the University of Kuopio and the University of Joensuu will gradually be taken out of use.

Email messages received in the old email systems are forwarded to the UEF email account in accordance with the terms defined below.

Old student email systems

• Students WebMail Kuopio (University of Kuopio users)
• Students Joensuu wwwmail (University of Joensuu users)

Old staff email systems

Members of the staff have been moved from the old staff email systems of the University of Kuopio and the University of Joensuu to the UEF email system.

When will the old email systems be taken out of use?

The Hytti server of the University of Kuopio will be taken out of use on 31.5.2011 at which time the Hytti accounts will also be closed. This also means that it is not possible to establish a SSH connection to the Hytti server and, in consequence, it is no longer possible to run screens or irc clients on the server.

The wwwmail and cc server of the University of Joensuu will be taken out of use on 31.5.2011 at which time the accounts will also be closed.

Forwarding of emails to the UEF emails systems

Where will emails received in the old email systems be forwarded in the future?

The old University of Kuopio and University of Joensuu email addresses continue to receive emails. Email messages received in your old address will be automatically forwarded to your UEF email.

The automatic forwarding of emails works for those users whose University of Kuopio / University of Joensuu user account was changed into a UEF user account before 31 May 2010.

Staff

Emails received in the old mailboxes of the staff will be automatically forwarded to the UEF Exchange email system (firstname.lastname@uef.fi).

Students

Emails received in the old mailboxes of student will be forwarded to the Live@edu email system.

If you have a staff email address, you messages will automatically be forwarded to the staff email, not the Live@edu email. The old departmental email addresses of the University of Joensuu (e.g. @cs.joensuu.fi) will not be forwarded anywhere else than the UEF Exchange email.

Which of my old email addresses will be forwarded to the UEF email system?

You can check you old email addresses in the UEF user identity management system:

1. Log in to the UEF IDM user identity management system at https://am.uef.fi/login.html
2. Log in using your UEF username and password.
3. Go to “My Account” -> “Email”
4. In the ”Mail Routing Information” field you can check your old email addresses and where messages received in them are forwarded.
