Activation of the University of Eastern Finland User Account

1. Read this first: general information about user Account activation

You can activate your user account with your online banking codes (VETUMA service). It is possible to activate your user account with online banking codes of the following banks: OP, Nordea, Sampo Bank, Handelsbanken, Aktia/SP/Pop, Ã…landsbanken, Tapiola and S-Bank.

Check that the social security number mediated by your bank is correct. If your activation attempt ends in an error message saying “An internal authentication error has occurred. Contact your system administrator”, the IDM system doesn’t know who you are. If, for example, your information has been removed from the university registers, you need to visit Student Services in person to get your information re-registered. In case of an authentication problem, degree students should contact Student Services, Open University students the Open University office, and members of the staff the IT Help Desk.

The user account can be used in approximately 1 hour after the activation. Do note, however, that your user account may not have all the necessary user rights at once, as for example new students get their final user rights only after registering at the university and after their information has been updated in the IDM system. This can take up to one day.

If after your login with online banking codes the IDM system prompts you to “Change UEF password”, it means that you already have an active user account. In this case, change your password and, if necessary, check your user account details on the front page.

Student and Learning Services.
