IT Centre | User Account Types at the University of Eastern FinlandAll University of Eastern Finland user accounts are created in the centralised identity management system. The required information about users and their roles is obtained from the student and study information system Oodi or the human resources system Prima. Persons who are studying or working at the University of Eastern Finland (e.g. members of staff, first and second degree students, and students at Aducate) will get a user account automatically. User roles and access rights at the University of Eastern FinlandUser roles at the University of Eastern Finland are defined on the basis of the employment relationship or the student status. A user role is linked to the person’s personal user account. These roles will give different access rights to the electronic services of the University of Eastern Finland. Below is a description of the most common user roles at the University of Eastern Finland and a listing of the access rights to the university’s electronic services associated with each role. UEF Degree Student This user role is assigned to all degree students registered as being present at the University of Eastern Finland.
UEF Aducate Students (mainly Open University) This user role is assigned to Aducate students who have a valid right to study.
UEF Student (Other) This user role is assigned to other students.
UEF Staff This user role is assigned to all members of UEF staff.
UEF Staff (Other) This user role is assigned to persons working at the University of Eastern Finland, but not employed by the university.
UEF New User This user role is assigned to persons who have a UEF user account but who do not have a valid employment or studying relationship with the University of Eastern Finland. This primarily concerns new degree students who have not yet registered as being present via WebOodi.
Light AccountIf the identity of the user cannot be reliably verified, the user account created will be a light account. The access rights to electronic services are more restricted in the light account. A light account can be changed to a normal user account by visiting the IT Help Desk in person or by logging in to the IDM system with online banking codes. The light account _does not_ give access to the following electronic services:
Other User AccountsFixed-term account: Persons who are not employed by or studying at the University of Eastern Finland (adjunct professors, emeritus professors, etc.)** can obtain a user account for a fixed term. The user account should be applied for using this form, accompanied by a recommendation of the head of the department/unit concerned. The user account is created in the IdM system manually at the IT Help Desk. If a fixed-term account is created to a person without a reliable verification of the identity, the account will be a light account with the restrictions described above. ** No valid employment relationship or right to study can be found for the person in the human resources or student and study information system. Visitor account: A visitor account to the UEFAD network can be obtained for temporary use.
