Studies | News Online services for residence permit applicantsThe Finnish Immigration Service and the police will be introducing e-services in residence permit matters at the end of 2011. Students are the first group of applicants able to apply online for their first residence permit or for a permit extension. Students will also be able to take advantage of other features of the service, including monitoring of the progress of the application. Other application forms will be added to the service in 2012. Submitting a residence permit application still requires a personal visit to a Finnish embassy. The processing of the residence permit application starts only after the student has identified him/herself in person at a Finnish embassy. The e-services will enable customers to:

Email notifications on course gradesFrom 1 January 2012 onwards, students will get e-mail notifications from the student register. An e-mail will be sent when a course grade has been entered on the records (pass, fail, retake, credit transfer). E-mails will be sent once a day to the e-mail address that the student has given when activating the UEF user account (see ‘Personal data’ -> ‘E-mail address’ in WebOodi).
